Water sports physical therapy · San Francisco Bay
I kite and wingfoil on the Bay myself. I know what a hard landing does to a knee and what a season of paddling does to a shoulder, and I know you want to be back on the water yesterday.
Water sports load your body in ways most clinics never see: harness pull through the low back, twisting landings, hours of paddling, cold water, and gear that can drag you before you're ready.
I'm Dr. Emmy Haw, a Doctor of Physical Therapy and a kiteboarder and wingfoiler. I build rehab around the demands of your sport and your season, and we keep you on the water wherever it's safe. The question I get most is "can I kite tomorrow?" You get a straight answer.
90 minutes. We start with your story, then I look at how you move, not just where it hurts. The spot that hurts is often not the spot causing it.
Hands-on treatment to calm things down, then strength so the change actually holds. Every session is treatment and training in the same hour.
Pain-free is the starting line, not the finish. We keep training until you're back to full strength and doing the thing you love.
Everyone starts with a 90-minute assessment ($250): a full-body movement assessment, hands-on treatment, and your first loaded session in the same visit. You leave with a written plan. Follow-ups are 60 minutes ($250) at your home or at Tribe Fitness on Columbus Avenue, or virtual ($150) from anywhere. For the full season build, The Full Send 12 is a 12-week program with a text line for the "can I kite tomorrow?" questions ($4,800).
I'm out of network. Pay directly with HSA or FSA, and I provide a superbill after every session. Most clients with out-of-network benefits get 60 to 70 percent back.

"I saw her for two issues, a sprained ankle and a meniscus issue. I'm a kiteboarder so I wanted to recover as quickly as possible, and she helped get me back on the water much faster."

Common questions
Often, yes. We work out what's safe, adjust your sessions, and keep you on the water wherever we can. In The Full Send 12 program, if I ever have to tell you to fully stop your sport, the rest of the program is free.
No. Most of my water sport clients are committed recreational riders who want to stay out there for decades.
Yes. That's a big part of my practice, from the first trimester to a return-to-sport plan with a date on it after birth.
No. California allows direct access to physical therapy, so you can book with me directly. If your insurance needs a referral for reimbursement, I'll help you sort that out on our free call.
I'm out of network, which is what makes 60 to 90 minute one-on-one sessions possible. Pay with HSA or FSA, and I give you a superbill after every session. Most clients with out-of-network benefits get 60 to 70 percent back.
Book the 90-minute assessment and leave with a plan. Or take a free 10-minute call first to see if we're the right fit. You can also text (415) 625-3092 and tell me what hurts.
