Performance training with a physical therapist.

Rehab stops at pain-free. Training starts at strong. I coach the whole line, so you can train hard without the old injury flaring up every few weeks.

Most trainers can't treat an injury. Most physical therapists stop coaching once you're out of pain. That gap is where people get hurt again.

I'm a Doctor of Physical Therapy and a Champion Performance Specialist, trained in the Barbell Rehab Method. Every session is one-on-one: I treat what's tweaking, then we load it, with a program built around your sport and your body. You get strength coaching from someone who knows your injury history, because she's the one treating it.

Who it's for

  • Athletes training hard with something always tweaking
  • Lifters working around back, hip, or shoulder pain
  • Water sport athletes building strength for the season
  • Active people 60+ who want to keep going
  • Anyone finishing rehab who wants to get strong, not just pain-free

What we train

  • Strength and power for your sport
  • Mobility where you actually need it
  • Barbell and gym technique
  • Landing, cutting, and rotation control
  • Breathwork and recovery

How it works

We start with the 90-minute assessment to see how you move and where you're leaking power or loading the wrong tissue. From there, every session is hands-on treatment where needed, then training, in your home, at Tribe Fitness on Columbus Avenue, or online.

For a result with a date on it, The Full Send 12 is two sessions a week for 12 weeks, with a DEXA scan and VO2 max test at the start and the end, and a text line for the "can I do this tomorrow?" questions.

What it costs

Everyone starts with a 90-minute assessment ($250): a full-body movement assessment, hands-on treatment, and your first loaded session in the same visit. You leave with a written plan. Follow-ups are 60 minutes ($250) at your home or at Tribe Fitness on Columbus Avenue, or virtual ($150) from anywhere. The Full Send 12 program is $4,800, or 3 payments of $1,600, which works out to $200 a session with testing included.

I'm out of network. Pay directly with HSA or FSA, and I provide a superbill after every session. Most clients with out-of-network benefits get 60 to 70 percent back.

"After just a few sessions, my body feels great. Emily helped me identify that my hip mobility was the root of a lot of my knee and back problems."

Common questions

Before you book.

Is this personal training or physical therapy?

Both, in the same hour. I'm a Doctor of Physical Therapy, so I can assess and treat injuries, and I coach strength and performance training around them.

Do I need to be injured?

No. Plenty of clients come to train smarter and stay ahead of injuries. If something is bothering you, we treat it as part of the plan.

Is this only for athletes?

No. Kiteboarders, tennis players, runners, and people with a gym habit and a back that keeps complaining. If you want to stay active, it's for you.

Do you take insurance?

I'm out of network, which is what makes 60 to 90 minute one-on-one sessions possible. Pay with HSA or FSA, and I give you a superbill after every session. Most clients with out-of-network benefits get 60 to 70 percent back.

Where do sessions happen?

At your home anywhere in San Francisco, at Tribe Fitness on Columbus Avenue, or online over video.
