Pelvic floor physical therapy · San Francisco
Leaking, pressure, pain? Common, but not normal. Private, one-on-one pelvic floor PT for women and men, at your home, at Tribe Fitness, or online.
Your pelvic floor is a group of muscles at the base of your pelvis. It supports your organs, controls your bladder and bowel, and works with your core every time you lift, run, or jump. Like any muscle, it can be weak, too tight, or slow to recover after birth or surgery.
I assess how it's working, treat it hands-on where needed, then train it. Most people don't need more Kegels. In fact, for many active people the pelvic floor is too tight, not too weak. An internal exam is offered, never required.
70 percent of people with low back pain also have pelvic floor dysfunction. If your back keeps coming back, this is often why.
We talk through your story first: symptoms, history, goals, and the life you want your body to keep up with. Then a whole-body movement assessment. An internal pelvic assessment can be part of it, but only if it's useful and only with your consent. You leave with a plan you understand.
From there, sessions combine hands-on treatment with training, so your pelvic floor works with the rest of you when you lift, run, ride, and live.
Everyone starts with a 90-minute assessment ($250): a full-body movement assessment, hands-on treatment, and your first loaded session in the same visit. You leave with a written plan. Follow-ups are 60 minutes ($250) at your home or at Tribe Fitness on Columbus Avenue, or virtual ($150) from anywhere.
I'm out of network. Pay directly with HSA or FSA, and I provide a superbill after every session. Most clients with out-of-network benefits get 60 to 70 percent back.
Common questions
Yes, regularly. Pelvic pain, bladder and bowel symptoms, painful sex, post-surgical recovery, and stubborn hip or tailbone pain often trace back to the pelvic floor in men too. Care is private and judgment-free.
No. An internal assessment is offered when it's useful, and only with your consent. Plenty of progress happens without one.
Any time, and earlier is better. The first trimester is a great time to build your plan. Postpartum, I see clients as early as two weeks after birth.
No. California allows direct access to physical therapy, so you can book with me directly. If your insurance needs a referral for reimbursement, I'll help you sort that out on our free call.
